8 things to do before baby arrives

Whether this is your first pregnancy or second or fifth, things in your new normal will be soon changing. These changes are some of the most beautiful, crazy, and transformative that you will experience in your lifetime. We made a list of a few things we recommend doing before that little baby arrives.

Things to do with your spouse:

  1. Take a Babymoon - You could something as simple as a quick little weekend getaway to Lake Geneva or a hotel in downtown Chicago. Eat all the yummy food and enjoy all it has to offer. You could also do a staycation where you have a movie marathon. If you can swing it, I would also encourage a getaway that brings you peace and is restorative for your soul, wherever that may be. Perhaps somewhere in nature or an all inclusive resort.

  2.   Go on a Fancy Date Night - Dress up and relish an uninterrupted dinner with your loved one. Look at each others eyes and take in all the flavors, smiles, and details of why you fell in love.

  3.   Have a Photoshoot - Schedule a professional maternity photos where you can document this special time. Hire someone to do your hair and make up so you can just enjoy having fun that day. Oh, and don’t forget the candid selfies at home of your belly and you and your growing family.

  4. Have a spa day - Pamper yourself from head to toe. Get the haircut and blow out, the maternity massage, and nails painted. You will feel so much better by the end of the day I promise.

With Family:

  1. Throw a baby shower or sprinkle - You deserve to be surrounded by all the people who love you who want to shower you and baby with love. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about that. This is pivotal time in your life and a celebration is a must.

  2. Go on a mommy and me date - Take your littles all at once or one at a time on a date and make it all about them. Embrace this bond you have and give them all your attention. They will remember these things forever.

  3. Read big siblings books together - Doing this helps them get excited about the newest member joining your crew and allows them to get a glimpse on how to act and what to expect.

  4. Sing and talk to baby - Encourage everyone to talk to baby and sing together. That special bond can be formed before baby makes their debut to the outside world.
